Welcome to the Suicide Server: what’s live and what’s next

August 15, 2025 — FlashSpector

Most of what's linked on the homepage is now up and running. We still need to bring Linkwarden online, but even CryptPad and Lemmy are live. Those two took the most work due to CryptPad config and some reverse-proxy quirks with Lemmy.

Bot protection

We run several privacy frontends, which pushed us to test anti-bot tools like Anubis. Anubis won for its simplicity, and we've customized its policy so scoring tightens when the server is under heavy load.

Heads up: because of how our anti-bot checks work, you may need to temporarily disable anti-fingerprinting features in your browser to get through the gate. You can turn them back on after you're allowed in.

We didn't have Anubis in front of Quetre (a Quora frontend) at first, so Quora rate-limited our instance for a bit. It's working again now.

Privacy frontends: current status

  • Binternet We tested this Pinterest frontend and then discovered it does not yet handle Pinterest link schemes. In practice it worked as a fast Pinterest image search, but not a redirector. The dev plans to add support and is asking for help, so we may bring it back later. To be clear, the confusion was on us because LibRedirect supports redirecting Pinterest links in browsers. The Binternet dev has done solid work.

  • GotHub We removed our GotHub instance after finding it didn't handle raw.github.com links correctly.

  • Wikiless Works well as a Wikipedia frontend. One limitation: clicking images on a page won't open the file directly. You can still open images in a new tab or copy the image address, so we're keeping it.

  • BreezeWiki Live and working. We made a small code change to remove a banner promoting a browser extension by the same dev team. That choice was just to reduce mixed guidance for users. The project and its devs are excellent.

Files, notes, and sharing

  • Lutim Image hosting with embeddable links. Images are encrypted server-side and are cleaned up after a while if they go inactive.

  • PrivateBin Pastebin with client-side encryption, optional file uploads, and comments. We can't see what you paste or upload.

  • URL shortener: scd.li Handy for shrinking the long URLs produced by Lutim galleries and PrivateBin. Example: scd.li/ss This is an instance of rs-short.

We'll cover the rest of our services in future posts. In the meantime, feel free to explore and let us know what helps you most.
